How important is Skelton United junior Football Club to local people?
Having been made redundant by Sainsburys these menwere able to arrange the donation and deliveryof two metal storagecontainers by Sainsbury to the football club. This provides us with a secure place in which to store our equipment, nets and goals.
If this act was not kind enough in itself, they provedhow commited to the Club local peoplewere by donating some of their redundancy money to the club. This was generous under any circumstances but more so given the men were out of work and all faced uncertain futures. Some of the men have not yet found new employment and the club wish them every success.
Mike Moor, pictured, handing the cheque to Jim Hartnett, Secretary of the club said; "We all support the newly formed football club and even though we have lost our chance of local employment, we wanted to put something back into our community"
Jim Hartnett, secretary of the club said "Our Club were totally taken aback by this gesture, at a time when their own livelihoods were at risk, it shows how strong the Community spirit is in the Skelton area"
