Skelton United v Nunthorpe

Sunday 8th January 2012

Game 1

Full Time Score: Skelton United 1 Nunthorpe 4

First game back after Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised with how the lads went about their business.

We were playing a talented Nunthorpe side, who had a couple of skillful, yet hot headed individuals playing for them.

We played the ball around well but the final pass was poor.

Skelton possession came to nothing as Nunthorpe broke on a couple of occasions in the first and second halves and each time they finished clinically.

Elliott coming on for Millington took his consolation goal well but there was no way we had the better of this well drilled Nunthorpe side.

Skelton United v Nunthorpe

Sunday 8th January 2012

Game 2

Full Time Score: Skelton United 1 Nunthorpe 5

This was a game of two halves as Nunthorpe dominated the first half and Skelton dominated the second.

Unfortunately by the time Skelton had got their “Roy of the Rovers” boots on, the damage was done as Nunthorpe made it 4-0 by half time.

In the second half Skelton stepped it up a gear and scored a great goal through Fletcher. The pressure was intense on the Nunthorpe goal but their defence remained solid.

The weather conditions were torrid but it has to be said, it was the same for both teams and Nunthorpe dealt with it better.

Skelton United v South Park Rangers

Sunday 22nd January 2012

Game 1

Full Time Score: Skelton United 2 South Park Rangers 1

SPRs floated a free kick in from outside the box within 10 minutes, Williams had no chance of saving it as it came through a crowd of players.

With strong runs down the left and right by Lea and Barber, you could just sense a Skelton goals was imminent.

The first goal came from Lea who finished in style with a great left foot strike and the second came from Rutley who turned on a sixpence to make it 2-1.

A deserved win for Skelton in an intense game of football.

Skelton United v South Park Rangers

Sunday 22nd January 2012

Game 2

Full Time Score: Skelton United 2 South Park Rangers 2

This too was a well balanced game with neither side being intimidated by each others strong runs and firm but fair challenges.

SPRs opened the scoring with a good goal from the right then Barber levelled the game soon after.

SPRs then got themselves in front for the second time in the game with a good passage of play just outside the Skelton box and then finished with a scuffed shot which bounced awkwardly in front of the keeper.

Barber secured a point just before full time when he received a great ball from Smitheman which allowed him time to compose himself before lifting the hooks out of the net!

Skelton United v TIBS FC B

Sunday 11th December 2011

Game 2

Full Time Score: Skelton United 1 TIBS FC B 3

Game 2 players approached this match with a better attitude and with a bit more shape but still came up well short against a well drilled TIBS side.

This game was pretty much a repeating pattern in as far as TIBS were 3-0 up without having to put much effort in.

Skelton did try to make a comeback and scored through Millington who executed his one and only opportunity well but it wasn’t to be once again for the Skelton side who need to work on moving the ball quicker and using the width of the pitch to their advantage.

Skelton United v TIBS FC B

Sunday 11th December 2011

Game 1

Full Time Score: Skelton United 1 TIBS FC B 3

The weather was dreadful and the football from Skelton was worse with big gaps appearing all over the field.

It wasn’t long before TIBS exploited these spaces. TIBS found themselves 2-0 up within 10 minutes without really trying.

Not all tackles were fair from TIBS and it’s fair to say that we didn’t get the rub of the green with the referee either but in all honesty we didn’t create enough to win the game either so there are no complaints really.

TIBS scored a third goal and Skelton received a late lifeline through an own goal but it was too late, it was just a bad day at the office.

Subscriptions

Unfortunately running a football team has cost implications, and whilst the subscriptions we take in, in no way cover our overall costs of running the club, they do help..

As a result we charge each player subs, £14.45 from Septemmber to May, collected by standing order. We do rely on this money so it is important that everyone makes an effort to maintain their payments.
